Colin Kaepernick, NFL player, began a gesture of opposition to racial discrimination, to kneel to hear the US anthem, a gesture that was also highlighted in women's Soccer through Megan Rapinoe, one of the biggest stars of the sport.
Karpernick, quarterback of the San Francisco refused to stand up during the anthem, starting the gesture of kneeling, as a protest against racial injustice in the country. He repeated it several times during the preseason and took now Megan Rapinoe to imitate him.
The player of 31 years has won the World Cup and an Olympic gold throughout his career. She not black, like Karpernick but she a lesbian. "Being gay in the USA, know what it is looking at the flag and feel that our freedoms are not protected," she said.
So, before the game between the Seattle Reign and the Chicago Red Stars, she imitated the gesture by kneeling during the anthem.
