@cycling U19 #portugal to compete in the @NationsCup @TourPaysdeVaud

U19  Portugal Team of Juniors participates, between Thursday and Sunday, in the Tour du Pays de Vaud, Swiss  Nations Cup.

In the week following the closing of the Portuguese Cup, which revealed a very balanced national junior squad, the young Portuguese will be put to the test against the best juniors in the world.

The national coach, José Poeira, summoned six cyclists for the first international appointment of the junior team in 2017: Afonso Silva (Sporting / Tavira / Training Eng. Brito da Mana), Francisco Moreira and Pedro Miguel Lopes (Seissa / KTM Bikeseven / Matias & Araújo / Frulact), João Dinis (RP-Boavista), Pedro José Lopes (Alcobaça CC / Crédito Agrícola) and Pedro Teixeira (Maia).

The race opens with a 3.5-kilometer prologue around Montricher. The first leg is 113 kilometers long, linking Concise and Cottens with an up and down route that includes three mountain prizes.

On the third day, the runners will find a double journey. On Saturday morning there is a 65.7 kilometer stretch between Ballens and Saint-Cergue, which ends at the top of a 10.7 kilometer climb. The evening stage is an atypical exercise, a kind of avalanche in ascent: the peloton is going from Nyon to arrive, after traveling only 22.2 kilometers, to the top of Saint-Cergue.

The Tour of the Pays de Vaud ends on Sunday. The final round has 89.9 kilometers, linking Gollion to Vullierens, on a route that crosses two scoring climbs for the classification of climbers.
