Rui Costa and Portuguese Cycling made history again. For the first time a cyclist managed to reach the final and win the award for "Best Male Athlete of the Year." Costa was awarded the Sports Gala, an organization of the Sports Confederation of Portugal, held at Casino Estoril.
The natural corridor of the Village of Aguçadoura was elected through the vote of the public, with a weight of 60%, and the votes of those present at the Gala, 40%.
