Alverca guaranteed that nothing will be missing from the family of Alex Apolinário, a young footballer who passed away this Thursday, after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest on Sunday, during the match against União de Almeirim.
«We are very sad, from the beginning we were waiting for a miracle. The working group is brave and we have to stay strong. The player had a contract for another year and a half. Nothing will be missing from the family and this is a commitment that we have assumed », stated the vice president of SAD from Alverquense, Artur Morais.
«The group felt what happened and we belong to the working group. We must continue and honor everything Alex has done for this club. He was a humble, hardworking player. Friend of your friend and a supercrack. Everyone saw his simplicity on a daily basis », he said.
Alverca is making every effort to ensure that Alex Apolinário's funeral ceremonies pass through Alverca do Ribatejo, before the body is transported to Brazil, his birthplace.
Alex Apolinário fell inanimate, without competing for any move, in the 27th minute of the meeting between Alverca and União de Almeirim, for the 10th round of the F Series of the Portuguese Championship, which ended up being interrupted.
The midfielder, who arrived at Alverca in 2018/19, after representing Cruzeiro and Atlético Paranaense, was admitted to the Vila Franca de Xira Hospital, in an induced coma, after being resuscitated using a defibrillator.
