Less than a month before entering the Tokyo'2020 Olympic Games, Pedro Pichardo issued a serious warning to all competition, when setting in Hungary, at the Gyulai István Memorial, the best world mark of the year, with about 17.92 meters passing to be also the second best national brand in history and also the second best record ever of the Luso-Cuban while Portuguese - his record is still as a Cuban, with 18.08 meters.
In a competition in which Nelson Evora was present - without being able to make any valid jump -, the second place went to the Burkinase Hugues Fabrice Zango (17.82) and the third to the Algerian Yasser Triki (17.33).
