#TUDN #Portugal Abel Ferreira 51 yrs old was named best coach of the year in #SouthAmerica winning two #LibertadoresCup with @Palmeiras in 10 month is not common

Abel Ferreira was named best coach of the year in South America. The Portuguese coach was a finalist for the prize awarded by the Uruguayan daily El País, resulting from a vote by a group of sports journalists from that continent.

Abel Ferreira, who won the Copa Libertadores with Palmeiras for the second year in a row, was a finalist alongside Marcelo Gallardo, coach of River Plate, who won the last three editions (2018, 2019 and 2020) and Lionel Scaloni, who led Argentina to winning the Copa America.

El País says that winning two Libertados in ten months is not common, and that Abel won with 36 percent of the vote, against 33 percent for Marcelo Gallardo, who this year was "only" the winner of the Argentine championship. Scaloni collected 20 percent.
