João Tomás handed Rober Enke's jersey to the Benfica Museum's estate this Thursday. The Portuguese striker delivered one of the equipment used by the German goalkeeper during the 2002-03 season, when he played at Barcelona.
Teammates at Benfica between 1999 and 2001, Enke and Tomas meet again in 2002 in the Spanish championship. The Portuguese played at Betis, while the German represented Barcelona.
It is recalled that Robert Enke died on November 10, 2009, a victim of depression. In a career with 16 at the highest level, he spent three seasons in Portugal (1999-2002), where he made 83 matches for Benfica.
