The Portuguese men's team defeated Spain by 2-1, in the decision in “shoot-out”, and made history by overcoming the best classification ever in European Championships, guaranteeing, at the very least, the discussion for the medals.
Then it was the turn of the women's team, which also wrote history and stamped the passage to the semi-final against the European vice-champion Denmark by also winning in the "shoot-out" (2-1), opening the possibility of discussing the medals of the tournament.
The semi-finals will be played this Saturday, with the men's team facing Hungary, while the women's team will face the Netherlands.
In both cases, qualification was defined for the 7 best teams of each of the sides, a guaranteed classification this Saturday with a place in the top-4!
In the case of the women's team, the presence in the semi-final also guaranteed qualification for the World Beach Games, which will be held in Bali between the 5th and 12th of August.
