This Sunday, Benfica failed to win the women's Iberian Rugby Cup, after losing 25-17 to the Spanish champions, Majadahonda, in the final played at the Estádio Universitário de Lisboa.
Despite the trials of Facínia Santo (09 minutes) and Maria João Costa (33), the first of which was transformed by Cátia João, the 'reds' were already losing at half-time, by 15 to 12, and in the second half they allowed the Spanish to expand until 25-12, making Matilde Goes' goal touch (77) insufficient.
Clube da Luz thus failed to win its first Iberian trophy, in the first time it competed in the competition, while Majadahonda won its second consecutive trophy and joined Sporting as the most successful clubs, with two titles each.
In eight editions of the women's Iberian Cup, Spanish teams have won six trophies.
