Pedro Buaró beat the national record in the pole vault, finishing 3rd at the Madrid Meeting with 5.85 meters.

The 25-year-old Benfica athlete added 3 centimeters to a mark he has held since February 2024 when he jumped 5.82 indoors at Pombal. Until today with 5.74m as the best mark of the season, the Portuguese athlete still tried to surpass the 5.90m, but without success, after missing three attempts. Still, with these 5.85 meters already  qualified for the European Championships  

Carolina Ventura  17 yrs old broke a 36-year-old national record and set new Under-18 and Under-20 marks in the 100 meters (11.44s). 🚀


Carolina Ventura flew this morning in Rieti (Italy), rushing for the semi-finals of the European Under-18 100m, in 11.44 seconds, a new national record in the  the Under-20, having lasted since 1990, when Lucrecia Jardim ran in 11.52.

The Portuguese youngster, 17, happens to be the 21st best under-18 of all time in Europe and the 8th best light in the absolute table.


Four  Benfica athletes compete in the U 18 European 
Carolina Ventura, Tiago dos Santos, Pedro Silva and coach Elton Queiroz will represent Portugal at the European Championships in Rieti between July 16 and


Carolina Ventura will compete in the 100 meters, with the elimination scheduled for July In case of qualification, he will compete in the semi-finals and the final on the 17th. The sprinter will also compete in the Portuguese medley relay, whose qualifying is scheduled for 19 July, followed by the final, in case Portugal qualifies.

Tiago dos Santos will be in action at 200 meters. The qualifiers will be held on July 17, while the semi-finals and finals are scheduled for the 18th, . The Benfica athlete will also take part in the medley relay, which will have a qualifier on Day 19, in case Portugal secures qualification.

Arialis Martinez won the 100 meters in Sollentuna (Sweden) and Ericsson Tavares took bronze in the 400 meters in Poitiers (France), on a weekend of great activity for Europe.

🇵🇹 Three national records and a qualification mark for the Under-20 World Cup on a big day.





Isaac Nader, an athlete from SL Benfica, won a silver medal at the Meeting in Rabat, Morocco, and a stage of the Diamond League, competed on Sunday, May 31st.
In the 1500 meters, Isaac Nader finished in 3.30.43, finishing 2nd and climbing the podium to receive the silver medal.

Also in the 1500 meters, but in the women's variant, Salomé Afonso, athlete of Sl Benfica, was 9th classified, 

 In the Ibero-American Championships, which took place in Lima, Peru, the athletes of Benfica won three medals.

In the sixth fair, on May 29, Tiago Costa Pereira competed in the triple jump, taking 3rd place, with a mark of 15.81 meters.


Already on Saturday, May 30, Emanuel Sousa won the silver medal with a mark of 63.60 meters in the discus throw.


Décio Andrade, also an athlete of the Club, participated in this competition, in the hammer throw, being 6th classified with a record of 69.27 meters.


Present in the final of the 400 meters, Ericsson Tavares was 7th with a time of 46.66 seconds. In the semifinals, the eagles athlete was 3rd, setting a new personal record: 45.83 seconds.


At the competition, on Sunday, May 31, Leandro Ramos won the silver medal in the dart throw, with a mark of 79.58 meters.
