The Olympic Committee of Portugal confirmed on Monday the list of 75 athletes who will represent our country at the Olympics in London, which occurred between July 27 and August 12.
In this final list, most notably an absence of major importance to the athlete's Rui Silva, who should run the 10,000 meters, due to an injury, followed by advanced data Portuguese Athletics Federation (APF). Thus, Rui Silva is the fourth low on the list of national athletics to London, after Nelson Evora (triple jump), Naide Gomes (long jump) and Francis Obikwelu (100 meters).
Portugal will be represented in 13 sports (Athletics, Badminton, Canoeing, Cycling, Equestrian, Gymnastics, Judo, Swimming, Rowing, Table Tennis, Shooting, Triathlon and Sailing), in what will be the largest Portuguese feminine presence ever at the Olympics, a total of 32 athletes (43%).
Compared with London, Portugal will participate in at least four sports (Fencing, Hunting Weapons Archery, Archery and Taekwondo) and will include at least two athletes.
