#Portugal #Olisipiadas #Lisbon games 30,000 #Portuguese children to compete in 12 individual sports between 6 to 14 yrs of age #Olympics
The swimming is integrated into the range of modalities to compete under the Lisbon Games, called Olisipíadas, returning this year to the Portuguese capital.
About 30,000 children and young people will participate in this event, whose main objective is to stimulate physical activity and sport.
The initiative, whose first edition took place in 1987, but was interrupted for a few years, aims to be a factor of unity and integration of all the local parishes.
The games are organized by the municipality, in partnership with 24 parishes, the Olympic Committee of Portugal, the Paralympic Committee of Portugal and several sporting bodies, including the Portuguese Swimming Federation, and are directed to young people of all the parishes of Lisbon, aged 6 to 14 years.
By the end of this month, participants have the opportunity to choose from 12 individual sports (athletics, cycling, swimming, skating, table tennis, gymnastics and judo) or collective (handball, basketball, indoor soccer, rugby and volleyball), and, subsequently spread over two phases, the site and the final.
The first phase, which runs from January to April, encompasses various local activities to elect the representatives of the parish and the final phase, between May and June, will be attended by at least one participant or team from each parish by modality and then released in conjunction with the initiatives of the City Events.
