@Cycling @starter of the #Portugal 80th @Tour @VoltaaPortugal a first for 20yr old Andre Carvalho @LibertySeguros
André Carvalho, of Liberty Seguros, knows that this is a "different race" with "different emotions", but, to the agency Lusa, also speaks of the enthusiasm that the team feels before the beginning of the game.
Competing for 11 years, the young 20-year-old cyclist is fulfilling a dream of being in this race for the first time, 49 years after his grandfather, Carlos Carvalho, finished with the yellow jersey.
"My grandfather was a cyclist, he won the Tour of Portugal in 1959 and I think this is the culmination of a dream, because we all want one day to participate in what is the most important event in Portugal, the greatest, as they say. I am a little expectant of what can be the Tour of Portugal, "he said.
André Carvalho showed up in the last race of the national calendar before the Tour of Portugal, standing at the door of the top 10 in the National Grand Prix 2, 25 seconds from a podium spot.
