Icelandic central defender Heiddis Lillyardottir, 25, will represent Benfica's women's football team on loan from Breidablik, the Lisbon club announced this Friday on its official website.
Lillyardottir will live his first experience outside Iceland and has already worked with his new teammates, in the squad led by Filipa Patão.
"I had the opportunity to train and I could see that it is always at high speed and intensity. It will be a good challenge. I always dreamed of playing away from Iceland. Benfica are one of the biggest clubs in the world and it's an honor to be here," said the centre-back , in statements released by the 'incarnates'.
The defense arrives at Benfica on loan, but the Lisbon emblem did not reveal the duration of the transfer.
In addition to Breidablik, where he won six titles, Lillyardottir also represented Höttur and Selfoss.
Benfica, current national champion, leads the regular phase with 18 points, one more than Sporting, second ranked.
