FIFA announced this Monday that foreign players from Russian and Ukrainian clubs will be able to suspend, unilaterally and "without facing any legal consequences", the contracts due to the military conflict between the countries on Ukrainian soil. Currently, there are 129 foreign players who play in the Russian championship and 95 in the Ukrainian one.
The body that governs world football has also decided to open an exceptional transfer window, so these players will have until April 7 to be able to terminate and sign for another team, which they will be able to represent until June 30.
Each club will only be able to register two players under this exception, in order to “safeguard the integrity of competitions”.
