Francisco Neto's squads in Group 2 of Liga A.
This Tuesday, Portugal got to know the three opponents it will face in the group stage of League A of the 1st edition of the Women's League of Nations. France, Norway and Austria are in the path of the Quinas Team, with qualification to be played between September 20 and December 5, 2023.
The selections of each group face each other in two rounds, at home and away. Only the winner of each League A group will advance to the Final Four, which includes four games: two semi-finals, a third and fourth place match, and the final. This decisive phase will take place between February 21 and 28, 2024.
This new competition, remember, will influence access to the European and World Championships, as well as qualifying for the Olympic Games, with the finalists of League A automatically qualifying for Paris'2024. If one of the finalists is France, the best semifinalist goes to the Olympic Games.

"We are very proud to participate in this competition and to be in Liga A. We have been working for a long time to make this happen, it is a reflection of the good work that has been done in Portugal at all levels, in the clubs, at the level of the Federation and in the associations of soccer. Now it's time to take advantage, compete with the best to grow more. We got a very balanced and open group, where we will above all try to be competitive and score points, first with the objective of maintenance, then to accumulate points that allow us to reach the end of the competition depending only on us in view of what could be the course of next year."
Portuguese coach Francisco Neto . All opponents would be difficult. We knew that the teams in pot 1 and 2 were of a very large size, teams with a history, European champions, who fight for titles. Those in pot 3 and 4 are more balanced, they are teams we faced more times and against whom we had better results. We have to focus only on ourselves, on being competitive. We know that we will experience difficulties in the six games we will play in the group stage, but we also know that this is the way for us to grow. This is a new competition with interference in the future of the team, in qualifying for the 2025 European Championship, so we have to be competent to manage to have a more favorable calendar in that qualification
