Benfica's U-13 women's football team won the Universal Youth Cup, whose 1st women's edition took place between September 29th and October 1st, in Montignoso, Italy.
In one of the most important global grassroots football tournaments, the Eagles were part of a group of 16 participating teams, including the best Italian teams.
In the eight-on-eight format, in the final, held this Sunday, October 1st, at the Angelo del Freo Stadium, Benfica beat Milan (4-0), with goals from Lara Barbosa (1' and 15') and Eunice Bernardes (4' and 9'), lifting the trophy.
On the way to the decisive game, the Reds got the better of Bologna (0-4), Spezia (10-0) and Roma (1-2), in the group stage.
Having gained nine points, Benfica won their group, setting up a meeting with Parma in the quarter-finals. The 0-1 victory dictated passage to the semi-final, where Sassuolo were beaten 3-1.
