Benfica's women's Water Polo team defeated Estrela Vermelha this Thursday by a clear 28-7, in the opening round of the 1st qualifying round of the LEN Challenger Cup, in Romania.
The Eagles' top scorers were: Nicola Macleod (7), Madalena Lousa (5), Inês Nunes (4), Mariana Sousa (3), Louise Hazell (2), Joana Arromba (2), Aline Martins (1), Ana Beatriz Jardim (1), Carlota Milheiro (1), Alba Garcia (1) and Emily Aikema (1).
The Eagles will be back in action on Friday at the Alba Iulia Olympic Pool, with two games: against the Turkish team Galatasaray (8:00 am) and the German team Esslingen (5:00 pm). On Saturday there will be a game against the hosts Unirea Alba Iulia.
The qualifying phase is contested by 17 teams divided into four groups: the top two teams from each group advance to the second round.
