#BenficaCanoeing Joao Ribeiro and Messias Baptista have extended their contracts until 2029, Gustavo Goncalves signed with #Benfica

Canoeing  João Ribeiro and Messias Baptista have extended their contracts with Sport Lisboa e Benfica until December 2029. The continuation of the duo represents the maintenance of a competitive project with clear ambitions for the Olympic cycle leading up to Los Angeles 2028.

Benfica officially announced on Saturday the signing of Gustavo Gonçalves, a 22-year-old canoeist who, in August of last year, became world champion in the K4 500 meters alongside João Ribeiro, Messias Baptista, and Pedro Casinha, who recently renewed their contracts with the Lisbon club.

"I am fortunate and privileged to be able to achieve this in my life. It started with family influences, I grew, I improved, and fortunately, step by step, also thanks to hard work, belief, and many people who helped me get here, I managed to reach the level I am at and I intend, as long as I can, to continue doing this in my life," Gustavo Gonçalves began by saying in statements on Benfica's official website, showing his pride: "It's a very special and significant step in my career."
