STORRS, Conn. - Freshman Matt Jeffery (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Township) scored in the 26th minute, but the nationally-ranked No. 23 Monmouth University men's soccer team fell to third-seeded and fifth-ranked Connecticut, 2-1, in the NCAA Tournament Second Round, Sunday afternoon at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium. With the loss, the Hawks conclude the season at 14-6-2, while the Huskies move on to the third round to face the winner of Sunday's second-round game between Wake Forest and James Madison.
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - Following a scoreless double-overtime draw, the Monmouth University men's soccer team advanced past Stony Brook on penalty kicks, 5-4, in the NCAA Tournament First Round Thursday night on The Great Lawn. With the tie, the Hawks move to 14-5-2, and will face third-seeded Connecticut, Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium in Storrs, Conn. Stony Brook ends its season at 10-6-4.

10/9 The Monmouth University men's soccer team outshot Bryant, 19-3, and found the back of the net twice to defeat the Bulldogs, 2-0, Sunday afternoon at Bulldog Stadium. With the win, the Hawks improve to 8-3-0 (2-1-0 NEC), while the Bulldogs fall to 1-8-1 (0-4 NEC).
Derek Luke (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) scored in the 18th minute, when Christian Nogueira (Kearny, N.J./Kearny) found him in the middle of the box. Luke went left to beat Bryant goalkeeper George Spanos and put the Hawks on top, 1-0.
