Semi Final @NewarkEastSide Red Raiders -2- @Kearny -1- Final

Heading into the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 semifinals, fifth-seeded Newark East Side knew that all the pressure on top-seeded Kearny.
Kearny came in as the No. 1 team in the NJ.com Top 20, was undefeated and boasted a grand state tournament history with nine Group Championships and 16 sectional titles. Newark East Side, on the other hand, was unranked in the state and has one sectional title, which came in 1964.
Barbosa Pereira got the scoring started in the 28th minute when he beat Kearny goaltender Oscar Alvarado, who made three saves, with a pass from Jefferson Rincon to give East Side a 1-0 lead.
East Side clinched its spot in the North 2, Group 4 sectional final when Kevin Avilascored in the second overtime period to secure a 2-1 win in Kearny.
Avila scored in the 97th minute off a feed from Barbosa Pereira. Following the goal Jose Pereira looked at his coaches with a since of belief.
