Portugal National Selection / Liberty Seguros compete from 14 to 18 September, on the road of European Championship, which will take place in Plumelec, in the French region of Brittany. For the first time, the European competition has the elite category, in which the Portuguese have the ambition to fight with the best.
Portugal will be represented in the men's elite category, under-23 and junior, as well as in women's elite and juniors. In total, the National Selection / Liberty Seguros will be present with 17 runners.
For the elite category, the national selector, José Poeira , called Nelson Oliveira (Movistar), which only compete in Time Trial, Andre Cardoso (Cannondale-Drapac), José Gonçalves (Rural-Seguros RGA Caja), José Mendes (Bora-Argon18 ), Rui Costa (Lampre-Merida), Sergio Paulinho (Tinkoff) and Tiago Machado (Katusha).
The National Selection / Liberty Seguros sub-23 will be formed by André Carvalho, Ivo Oliveira and Luis Gomes (Liberty Seguros / Carglass) and Nuno Bico (Klein Constantia). Ivo Oliveira joins the Time Trial to participate in fund-proof.
Portugal will also be in competition four juniors. Joao Almeida and Daniel Viegas (Bairrada) vie for Time Trial and will be accompanied in the background test by Pedro Lopes (Alcobaça CC / Agricultural Credit) and Pedro Teixeira (TDCA Trofa).
Women's representation chosen by the national selector of women's cycling, Gabriel Mendes, in charge of the elite will be Daniela Reis (DN17 Poitou Charentes) and junior Soraia Silva (Bairrada). The two cyclists only compete in their respective evidence background.
