The Portuguese Fed Cup team secured their Group 1 fixture in the Europa / Africa Zone on Saturday, defeating Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-1 in the maintenance playoff of the division in Tallinn, Estonia.
Inês Murta, number 546 WTA, gave Portugal an advantage by beating Jelena Simic, 551ª, by 6-4 and 6-0, and then Michelle Larcher de Brito closed the accounts for the Portuguese team, easily beating the number one Bosnian Dea Herdzelas , 473rd WTA, by 6-1 and 6-2. For Michelle, it was the 18th singles victory in the Fed Cup, an absolute record in the National Team.
At the same time, just to meet the schedule, Nefisa Berberovic and Anita Husaric beat Francisca Jorge and Rita Vilaça 6-4 and 7-6 (4).
