The distinction, which appears one season after Betinho's return to the Portuguese Championship, rewards one of the best Portuguese basketball players ever with an international career, namely in Spain and Italy.

"I WOULD NOT HAVE GOT IT IF IT WERE NOT THE OPPORTUNITIES GIVEN BY THE COACH AND WITHOUT MY TEAMATES "

Speaking to the SL Benfica Official Website, Betinho stressed the help of all those who crossed paths with him to make this award possible. "The feeling is always one of thanks, because we have never achieved anything alone. In these 10 years, four seasons were at Benfica, and I would not have been able had it not been for the opportunities given by the coach and without my teammates, who forced me to give my better every day ", he stressed.

The 35-year-old small forward then explained what this distinction means to him. "It makes me believe more and more that with hard work and sacrifice we always end up reaching high levels. My goal was never to be the player of the decade, but it meets what is my real goal, which is to motivate the youngest" , he said, leaving a message for these: "Believe in yourselves, even when things seem impossible. We will fall many times and we must be able to get up and move on."
