Maria Cassandra Hannele Korhonen, 23 years old (01.01.1998), signed a contract with Sport Lisboa e Benfica and is a reinforcement of the women's football team, where she will wear the number 25 shirt.
Born in Sweden, Cassandra Korhonen spent most of her career in her native country, where she played at clubs such as Västeras IK, Västeras BK 30 and Uppsala, until moving to Finland in 2021 to represent Aland United.
Speaking to BTV, the forward said she was happy for this new stage and was ambitious for her journey at Benfica. "It's a huge, professional club, with a great team. It's very different from the other clubs I've played for, even technically, we run a lot more, but I'm ready. I hope to score a lot of goals and help the team win trophies," she emphasized.
Owner of a talented left foot, Cassandra Korhonen was instrumental in the way she boosted Aland United's attack. With 21 goals in 23 games, mostly in the penalty area, and three assists, she was Kansallinen Liiga's second best scorer in 2021, according to data from the Wyscout platform.
