Auriol Dongmo was runner-up in the shot put at the Europeans in Munich. The Portuguese athlete was only surpassed by the Dutch Jessica Schilder who became European champion.
In a duel for the gold that from the beginning was restricted to these two athletes, Schilder reached 20.24 meters in the second throw, a mark that would guarantee him the first position. Auriol Dongmo also responded in the second attempt, with 19.82 meters, a new national record, but he ended up not being able to improve the mark, contenting himself with the second post.
In third place was the Dutch Van Klinken, with a mark of 18.94 meters to guarantee her the bronze medal. Jessica Inchude finished the race in ninth place, with a throw of 17.93 meters.
