Henrique Rocha qualified for the main draw of Roland Garros on Friday, in what will be his debut in the main phase of a Grand Slam. The Portuguese, ranked 201st in the world, beat Frenchman Luca van Assche, ranked 179th in the world, 6-3, 6-7 (1) and 7-5 in the third and final round of qualifying. The main draw of the clay Grand Slam will thus feature three Portuguese tennis players, with Henrique Rocha joining Nuno Borges and Jaime Faria, which is happening for the first time in a Grand Slam, and Francisco Cabral will compete in the doubles tournamen

Henrique Rocha, making his debut in the main draws of a Grand Slam tournament, became the second Portuguese male tennis player to reach the third round of Roland Garros on Thursday, after beating Czech Jakub Mensik. Coming from the qualifying round, in which he had already played three matches, Rocha, 200th in the world rankings, beat the Czech, 19th, 2-6, 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 and 6-3, in three hours and six minutes, imitating Nuno Borges, 41st, who on Wednesday had eliminated Norwegian Casper Ruud, eighth.
