Our U16 team won the "Mallorca International Football Cup" for the third consecutive time, defeating Madrid CFF 2-0 in the final.
In a journey marked by absolute dominance, Sport Lisbon and Benfica claimed victory in the Mallorca International Football Cup in the women's Under-16 division, a tournament that took place between April 3 and 5 at the Estádio Polideportivo Municipal in Magaluf.
The Eagles entered with the responsibility of defending their previously conquered dual title – and they did so in unrelenting fashion. Inserted into Group C, they started the race with a goal against Spain's Leioako Emakumeak (5-0), followed by a win over Idrettslaget Heming (0-1), Norway, and a new show of strength against Mallorca B (0-7).
Already in the elimination phase, the incarnations maintained the record: victory over the Go Ahead Eagles (0-4), the Netherlands, quarter-final triumph over Mallorca A (2-0) and a semi-final victory over Atlético de Madrid (1-0).
In the final, against Madrid CFF, the balance pautou in the first half, but after the interval Benfica imposed its superiority, sealing the victory 2-0 and guaranteeing another international trophy.
A pursuit with numbers that speak for itself: 22 goals scored and none suffered. In highlight was Matilde Rosa, author of 9 goals and decisive piece in the victorious campaign.
In the women's Under-14, Benfica also made their mark, emboraing with a distinct offense. Integrated into Group B, the youngsters started with two victories against the Spaniards of Madrid CFF (2-0) and CE Constància (2-0), before suffering their only defeat in the group stage against the Danish side of Ballerup-Skovlunde Fodbold (1-0).
On the last day of the first phase, a draw against Vicente Del Bosque Academy (1-1) guaranteed a place in the semi-finals, where Benfica met FC Barcelona. This stage, the incarnates ended up conceding (0-2), thus locking up participation in the test.
