#Tennis #Portugal Joao Domingues 23 yrs old wins first career title on the Challenger in a Master Tournament in #Italy

23-year-old João Domingues has further cemented his name in Portuguese tennis history by winning his first career title on the Challenger circuit this Sunday. The young Oliveira de Azeméis, who before this week had never even won two consecutive meetings in the main frame of a tournament of this competitive echelon, became champion of the tournament of Master, in Italy, and is now integrating the short batch of tennis players Portuguese with challenger trophies.

In a balanced final, the current Portuguese number four and (still) 221st placed in the ATP ranking, defeated in two sets the Austrian Sebastian Ofner, number 270 of the male hierarchy, by 7-6 (4) and 6-4, in 1h40 to meet.

With this victory, João Domingues will not only become the 11th Portuguese tennis player in history to enter the top 200 of the men's ranking, but he will have to settle for the top 180, guaranteeing unequivocally a place in the qualifying phase of Wimbledon , within a month. It will be the debut of the oliveirense in majors.
