The Lisbon Marriott Hotel will receive one of the teams from the ‘final 8’ of the Champions League to be held in Lisbon, between the 12th and 23rd of August. The agreement between the hotel and UEFA was signed on Wednesday, 24 June.
"It is a very important business at this time due to the pandemic, where the business is weak in many places, and it is spectacular that UEFA also relies on Lisbon," said Elmar Derkitsch, general manager of the hotel in statements to the Economic News.
Portugal will host the quarter-finals, semi-finals and Champions League final. Confirmation was given on 17 June by UEFA at an online press conference held at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.
The Champions League was interrupted due to the Covid-19 pandemic, at a time when the second legs of four games of the round of 16 were missing, which according to UEFA will be played on the 7th and 8th of August, and are still open the possibility that these meetings could also be played in Portugal, namely in the cities of Porto and Guimarães.
