End of the line for Jérémy Mathieu. Following the serious injury to his left knee, contracted this Wednesday, during Sporting's training, the French center-back decided to put an end to his career.
The announcement was made by the 36-year-old, on social media, shortly after the injury that prevented him from competing again this season was known.
Mathieu joined Sporting in 2017 from Barcelona. He played 106 lion games to the chest and scored nine goals.
Trained at Sochaux, he also represented Toulouse and Valencia. He was international for France on five occasions.
