#RaceWalking #Marcha 10 kms @SLBenfica Vitoria Oliveira the national champion in the 10kms #Walk

Walk Vitória Oliveira, who this Sunday became national champion of the 10-kilometer  Walk , promises to help Portugal have two teams in the discipline's new relay event at the Paris2024 Olympic Games.

The task will be "complicated", she assumed this Sunday to the Lusa agency, because "it is very close" to the Olympic Games and the qualification criteria are not yet known.

"We're talking about eight months until the Olympic Games. Thinking about the relay is a bit hectic. Let's try - we Portuguese are fighting. We're going to try to guarantee one, who knows, at best, both teams at the Games. It would be perfect ", said the Benfica athlete, who won the national title in the 10 km walk  at the Nationals held in Porto de Mós, in the district of Leiria.

At the end of the race, Vitória Oliveira argued that it would be "great to be able to see more marchers at the Olympic Games".

"Seeing the youngest people trying this is great, it makes me very happy: it's a sign that the march is on the right track", he stated, guaranteeing that, in addition to the 20 km, he will also try to join the relay: "I will help the try to conquer this place and, if possible, be there to do it too", he promised.

The 10-kilometer National March had not been held in Portugal since 1997 and, today, it meant increased difficulties for the athlete. "It was tough", he admitted: "A new distance, for a time in the season that was a bit advanced... I felt good, even though I wasn't preparing well for this", she said, focusing on the 20 km, thinking about the presence in Paris.

"But it went well, I was national champion, it's good. The federation is trying to help us achieve as many points as possible and that's why the creation of this competition. It's a good starting point for the federation," she added.

The title gives “a good perspective for what’s coming,” she noted.
