The second solidarity match, broadcast by the three general channels, was seen by 2.8 million Portuguese.
The commitments of the National Team were solidary and the Portuguese joined in mass and revealed, once again, a great union around the Team of Quinas.
The meeting between Portugal and the USA, held this Tuesday in Leiria, was another example of the loyalty of the Portuguese people, becoming the most watched football game and 2017 Portuguese television program.
The second solidary game, played at Dr. Magalhães Pessoa Municipal Stadium, was accompanied by 2.8 million Portuguese, adding the average audience of three generalist channels (RTP1, SIC and TVI), which simultaneously transmitted the departure in Leiria. The overall share of the three channels during the match, that is between 20.45 and 22.45, reached 59.5%, according to data from GFK, a company that measures the audiences in the television market in Portugal.
This record surpassed the mark achieved in the game against Saudi Arabia, which was accompanied by 2.6 million Portuguese. Before this two-day solidarity, the most watched television program of 2017 was the Portugal-Switzerland game, with 2.4 million people with average audience and 51.5 percent share. This meeting was broadcast on a single channel, RTP1, on 10 October.
