Portuguese tennis player Nuno Borges said this Thursday that he held on "positively" to beat Czech Jakub Mensik, in three sets, and guarantee qualification to the semifinals of the ATP 250 in Auckland, New Zealand.
"What made the difference today, with a bit of luck and a lot of suffering, was belief and the way I remained positive throughout the match gave me a chance of being able to come away with a victory today. It wasn't perfect, but I'm very happy to turned things around", he commented in statements to the Lusa agency.
The maiato tennis player, number 36 in the world, beat for the second consecutive time, after the United States Open, the young Mensik, aged 19, who is in 49th place in the ATP rankings, in three balanced sets, decided by partial 6 -7 (7), 6-2, 7-6 (7).
